Specialty Contacts
Specialty contacts are custom-made contact lenses for those with unique eye shapes, conditions, or prescription needs which regular lenses cannot correct.
Types of Specialty Contact Lenses
Specialty contact lenses comprise different designs, prescriptions and materials to help address specific eye conditions. Some of the common types of specialty contact lenses include:
- Toric contact lenses help correct astigmatism, a condition whereby vision is distorted and blurry due to irregular eye shape.
- Multifocal contact lenses correct presbyopia, a condition whereby the eyes are unable to focus on nearby objects especially due to age.
- Scleral contact lenses help in cases of irregular corneas or corneal diseases such as keratoconus.
- Hybrid contact lenses help individuals with astigmatism, presbyopia, and other eye conditions. These lenses combine the benefits of soft and rigid lenses. The soft part of the lenses at the edge gives comfort, while the rigid portion at the center helps with clear vision.
